Iboga is consumed by swallowing the powder from the root with a little water, as if it were an infusion of natural herbs.
In the first phase it produces a deep relaxation, then it gradually enters into an expanded state of consciousness where lucid visions of life can appear, flooded with a strong and confrontational feeling of understanding of what makes us suffer. The Iboga does not produce a hangover or any type of pain but it produces a physical fatigue that prevents many movements, so that we cannot escape to go through what we have to see inside ourselves. The next day produces the opposite effect, as it is very revitalising, the body feels like a new-born since it brings great energy and impetus as it is a natural stimulant, it also raises the enthusiasm and the will to live.
Regarding the phenomenology of the experience, the visions of the Iboga are much more tenuous than with the Ayahuasca but it is much more direct when confronting, since it shows from the first dose what the person needs to see and understand, unlike Ayahuasca, which usually takes several doses within a gradual process. For this reason, the Iboga is called "broken mind" because the mind is not able to control, interrupt or interfere with the message it is going to give you. It works a lot at the level of the stomach, it connects us with our instincts and sensitises the perception as it prepares us to say: "This is it!" It shows us the unconscious processes that are blocking us from personal development.
The process with Iboga can be divided into 3 PHASES: Acute phase, state of "awakened sleep"; Evaluative or reflective phase and residual stimulation phase.
PHASE 1: The acute phase begins 1 to 3 hours after taking iboga and can last from 4 to 8 hours. Most reports have a "panoramic" experience, mainly visual, of past memories. It is often described as a state of "awakened sleep" with diverse experiences that can be associated with transcendent beings, taking a long journey or floating. Not all subjects experience visual phenomena, but that does not mean that they are not experiencing an effect.
PHASE 2: evaluation phase. The evaluation phase can last from 8 to 20 hours. People often report that they remember less memories in this phase along with a more neutral and reflective emotional tone. The attention is directed to evaluate the experiences of the acuity of the previous phase.
PHASE 3: Residual stimulation begins at 12 to 24 hours after taking Ibogaine and can last from 24 to 36 hours or more. The attention returns to the external environment during this phase, while the subjective psychoactive experience begins to fade. Normal movement returns and people often report increased arousal and vigilance during this period as well. Some report a reduced need to sleep for several days after treatment. A need to be awake is accentuated in this final phase.
After completing a journey with Iboga, a window of greater introspection opens, and lasts several days or weeks.
Allows you to be aware of the emotional experiences and reactions in your environment.
